About Puddleduck
Welcome to Puddleduck Therapy, a warm, welcoming space where children, young people, and adults can explore their thoughts and feelings in a way that feels safe, supported, and meaningful. Located in a peaceful rural setting just outside Lismore, our approach combines traditional counselling with creative therapies like sand play and nature-based sessions. Whether we're working together in the therapy room or reflecting quietly on the porch, sessions are shaped by connection, curiosity, and respect for each person's unique experience.
Families are always welcome here. Puddleduck Therapy is designed to be a calm, inclusive space where all members of the family can feel comfortable, seen, and supported.
Services

Sand Tray Therapy
At Puddleduck Therapy, I offer evidence-based sand tray therapy for children, teens, and adults. Using a tray of sand and a wide range of miniature figures, clients can gently explore emotions, relationships, and life experiences—especially when words are hard to find. This hands-on approach supports emotional expression, regulation, and healing in a safe, non-judgmental space. Rooted in trauma-informed practice and neuroscience, sand tray therapy can be especially helpful for those experiencing anxiety, grief, trauma, or neurodiversity

Frequently Asked Questions
Sand tray therapy is an evidence-based therapeutic approach used with children, teens, and adults. Using a tray of sand and miniature objects, clients create scenes that reflect their thoughts, feelings, memories, and experiences. This hands-on process supports emotional expression, regulation, and healing—especially when it’s hard to put things into words. Grounded in neuroscience and trauma-informed practice, sand tray therapy offers a safe and contained space for exploration, with the therapist providing gentle, non-judgmental support.
Sand tray therapy can support children, teens, and adults. It’s particularly helpful for people who find talking about thoughts and feelings challenging, or who respond best to visual, sensory, or hands-on approaches.
It can benefit individuals experiencing:
Anxiety or emotional overwhelm
Grief and loss
Trauma
Behavioural or social difficulties
Challenges with identity, confidence, or self-expression
Neurodiversity (including autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences)
Sand tray therapy creates a safe, structured, and creative space where people can explore at their own pace—without needing to rely on words.
Every person is different, so the number of sessions can vary. Some people come for just a few sessions to work through a specific challenge, while others benefit from longer-term support. Together, we’ll regularly check in to make sure the therapy is meeting your needs and goals. You’re never locked in—how long you attend is always your choice.
